Progress

Well I posted my art swap piece this morning to Katie in Worcester and will post a picture up in a few days once it has been received (so I am not spoiling the surprise!) I am also very close to finishing my second vid which shows a tutorial of two mixed media index cards, one of which is the art swap.

I have meant to get on and finish my monthly challenge, which was 'create a mythical character' (again cutting it fine) but having been to a spa break for my birthday (absolutely fantastic!) I am a bit behind. I still have two more days so hopefully will get it done.

In other news I have been invited to have a stall at Dovefest 2015 on 29th August where I will be selling homemade journals, and am in the process of trying to get some more art journaling sessions organised through Sheffield Independent School of Art

The Camera Has Arrived!

Very excited as my new camera has arrived and the picture quality is one hundred times better than the old one! I started filming last night whilst I was making a few mixed media index cards and the footage I got seems good so far. I will get it edited and posted ASAP. In the meantime here is a sneak preview of one of the index cards I made:

Upcoming things!

Well I have finally got around to ordering a camera to start really making my own videos and tutorials. Really looking forward to it arriving and getting started! Luckily I have access to some good editing software so once I have footage and have learnt how to use the software videos will start appearing!!

Also my ongoing projects this month are:

• More homemade journals of various sizes.
• My monthly challenge with Jennibellie - this month it is 'creative your own mythical creature'
• Art Swap (again with Jennibellie) this a new swap group where every month I am partnered up with someone from anywhere in the world. We create something on the months theme and post it out to our assigned partners. This month the theme is 'Positive Affirmation' and we are making 4x6 postcards.

I am really excited about the swap group. The chance to create something and send it out into the world and in return receive someone else's creation, what a fantastic opportunity!
I am also looking forward to creating my own mythical creature. When I was younger I was a big fan of Brian Froud, famous for his drawings off mythical creatures, some famously used in films like The Dark Crystal and Labrynth. I will definitley be looking at his work for inspiration!

I am also looking at arranging some more workshops, possible a full day one in the summer......watch this space!

Present

Recently a friend of mine had a little girl. I have been looking in the shops for a present but nothing jumped out at me so I decided to use my skills and make her a present. I decided to paint a canvass for her, using a famous quote. I was torn between using one from Dr Seuss or one from Roald Dahl but in the end settled for one from Peter Pan!

I am not sure it is completely finished, I think it still needs some work but overall I quite like it, I just hope my friend does too! It is the first time I have attempted Journaling on canvass but I quite like the effect so this may be the first of many.

Completed Journals

Hi all, not been up to much in the last few days I have been feeling quite lazy but I have finished my little homemade journals I started.

These are made from variety pack cereal boxes. I decorated the covers with some gelli prints and they are bound with wool. I am planning to make some more of these to sell at a craft stall in the summer.

Now I am back from being away I thought it about time to start making some more journals, I have been thinking about doing some for a while and trying out some different sizes and styles. Here are some in progress . . .

Appreciate

Well I haven't posted anything for a few days as I have been away for Easter visiting family and friends and enjoying the unexpected sunshine! This time of year always makes me feel happy and sparks all kinds of memories of past years. Somethimes memories that are there in the background, you can almost feel them but like trying to remember a dream it is just out of reach. They just give you a sense of calm and peace. I am planning to do a page about this before I loose the feeling.

Anyway as I was away I didn't have much stuff with me, only my traveling art kit and in it was a page that I have looked at for a while and not really liked so I decided to work on that. I started it after going for a walk with my husband for our anniversary. I quite like it now :)

The finishing Touches

Just a quick post today as I wanted to share my page now it is completed. I added a few textile bits and bobs which I think finish it off nicely.

I also got around to finishing another page I have been working on in one of my journals. I think I started this one around Valentines day and hadn't got around to finishing it. It's a little tribute to my lovely husband.
