New Journal

Hello All,

There is a woodland not far away from my house and I often find myself strolling through the trees. It's so peaceful and calm, I love the changing colours as the year unfolds. In autumn especially it is one of my favourite places. Taking inspiration from our little woodland I decided to make a themed journal. It has been a bit of a labour of love and I am truly thrilled with how it turned out:

Included in the journal are eco dyed papers using leaves collected from the woods as well as coffee dyed paper, ink stained tracing paper, woodland ephemera and some original little paintings of my own. The cover is from an old book I found in a charity shop which I thought went perfectly.

It will soon be going up in my etsy shop. I will be sorry to part with it but I hope it will bring enjoyment and a little piece of my corner of the world to whoever gets it.

September Mini Journal

Hello All,

Wow it's October already! time is flying. Suddenly Autumn is in the air and it's one of my favourite times of the year. I love the changing colours contrasted with crisp clear blue skies. I get to wear my boots and scarves again, the air is cool but not yet too cold, and woodland walks are full of colour and crunch. My mini journal for September is a reflection of all things Autumnal:

I hope you enjoyed taking a look. I am really enjoying this project so far It's so nice combining all the months photos with the art journaling. I know i'll enjoy looking back at these in years to come.

Exploring Encaustic

Hi All!

Today I thought I would share my continued explorations with encaustic painting. It it so addictive to watch the wax reacting, the colours melting into one another. It is definitely challenging! The medium is unpredictable and hard to control yet so much fun!

For this piece I started with a base of stamped rice paper then experimented adding layers of colour and splashes over the top. It really has a spacey feel to it like a nebula or something and I like how the rice paper still peeks through.

These two miniature pieces are an experiment in using stencils with the wax and also incorporating fabric. I love how these turned out, they are definitely my favourite so far!

I hope you like how these turned out! I can't wait until I find the time to try some more!
