Recent Bits & Bobs

Hello All,

It's been a while. I have been trying to get a new website up and running but it's not there yet. When I have it, i'll be sure to let you all know. In the meantime I thought I ought to get back on here and let you see some of my recent bits and bobs.

To start with here is April's mini journal:

I have now completed a years worth of journals and they are all lined up on my shelf. I have loved this challenge and fully intend to continue these. They are such a fantastic way of keeping those precious memories from my daily life

January Mini Journal

Hello all,

2019 is off to a busy start with lots of workshops running. I have been teaching art journaling and beginners drawing which has been loads of fun. Unfortunately I haven't had much time for my own work and I'm dying to do some more encaustic painting! I have some great ideas for some new journals too, when I get the chance! Half term is fast approaching so I hope I will have more time then.

January flew by and I only just managed to get my monthly journal done in time.

This one has a wintery feel to it which suits the time of year perfectly. One of the pages is made from a box of chocolates that my husband left under my pillow. There is also an extract from a poem I found in an old book I bought from a charity shop. Just little things that happened that month but it makes it all the more special.

August Mini Journal

Hello all,

Another month has gone by and one full of sunshine, laughter and lots of family time. Here is my little mini journal with all my highlights and favourite moments of August.

We are already halfway through September and I have been collecting bits and bobs to make a start on this months.

New Journaling Project

Hello All!

Today I thought I would tell you all about my latest project. I have decided that each month I will create mini art junk journal. Each one will be full of colour, texture and memories of that month. So without further a do, here is my completed mini journal for July.

This was so much fun to put together and I love the end result. My aim is to complete one a month for a year. I hope you enjoyed taking a look!

Some Recent Art Journaling

Hello All,

Spring is here at last! It is raining cherry blossom and bluebells carpet the woods behind my house. It is one of my favourite times of the year. Everything feels renewed and fresh and just walking down the road makes me smile. With all this renewed energy I have been very busy both with my workshops and classes and with my own work. I have been art journaling, bookbinding, and painting to my hearts content!

The colours and patterns I have been drawn to lately definitely reflect my mood and overall they are very happy cheerful pages!

Journaling by 5s

Hello All!

Today I thought I would share with you an absolutely fantastic idea called Journaling by 5s. It was invented by an artist called Shannon Green and I came across it whilst watching journaling videos on you tube.

The idea is that you break down a journaling page into 5 stages and each stage is timed (1 minute per stage per page) It is absolutely brilliant for those of you starting out as it makes the process nice an easy but also encourages you to let go, relax and just enjoy the process. For those who aren't beginners it is great way to get many pages done it very little time. I adore that I can be creative and produce full pages even if I only have a few minutes here and there to spare.

The stages are:

1. Background - paint, ink etc
2. Texture - collage, recycled materials
3. Pattern - stamps, stencils
4. Focal point - words, images
5. Details - pen, pencil, doodling

They are so much fun to do and very addictive. Here are a few I have been doing:

You can do these on loose sheets, old packaging, index cards, in journals or on old leaflets. Whatever you fancy really! And why not try adding extra stages of your own! I hope you all have a go! and please go over and check out Shannon Green on You Tube as well!
